Horseback training & lessons

At Oasis Farm, we specialize in working with riders who are interested in taking their show jumping skills to the next level. We specialize in show jumping and actively compete on the Hunter/Jumper show circuit. In our training we utilize dressage fundamentals to enhance our horses and riders communication, developing confidence in both horse and rider. At Oasis Farm, horseback riding lessons are elevated through our training program where riders are encouraged to discover and reach for their riding goals.

Hunters

Hunter training entails the ability to ride a balanced, even step that is at once powerful and quiet. The development of invisible rider aides is a hallmark of a solid Hunt Seat rider. A well mannered, engaged, balanced and steady go is the hallmark of a well trained hunter. Jumping form is of utmost importance and is the foundation for success in the Equitation and Jumper arenas. A good hunter is a joy to ride and we love seeing our horses excel in this arena.

Jumpers

Jumpers are judged on power and speed. The ability of horse and rider to easily and accurately engage at speed over higher and longer courses presents an engaging training challenge. Our riders excel in their development in the jumper arena. The art of maintaining rideability as you command bursts of power and adjustability is incredibly interesting and we learn so much about ourselves and our horses as we develop these skills.

Equitation

Equitation is judged on the rider’s ability to influence a horse’s performance both on the flat and over fences. Riders ability to turn, manage step and balance with ease and excellence of position is key. Equitation draws deeply from dressage fundamentals.

Philosophy

Horseback riding is at once an athletic endeavor, an art form and a means of creating a powerful bond between horse and rider.

Our commitment is to teach our riders not only how to ride, but how to train their horse; to problem solve and understand training systems well enough to be effective, and most importantly to understand how riding position and equipment can influence to horse in creating a lasting partnership. It is our goal that riders have an empowered and positive relationship with their mounts in all phases of their interactions.
